Gundam 00 season 1 impressions...

Well... Gundam 00's first season just ended, and boy I have to admit that 'round the end it became a truly amazing ride.

It started out ok actually, then somewhere around episodes 10 just before GN-04 Nadleeh was introduced it became a little boring, only picking up after.

Now that its over, I can say that it did really highlight some truly astounding Gundam moments. Without spoiling anything (much) the season ends with a very abrupt cliffhanger. Sadly this lack of real closure on any aspect will leave fans salivating for its second season.

Sadly the second season arrives 6 WHOLE MONTHS LATER!

Due for release around October, the second season, which rounds the episode listing to about 50 (standard for a Gundam meta series) will hopefully explain the outcome of the first seasons finale, and very TEASING last clips.

Those not in the know, Gundam 00 is said to draw influences from Gundam Wing, similar to how Gundam Seed is a re-imagination of the original Gundam series.

"After a sneak preview of Gundam 00 on September 1, 2007, Anime News Network remarked "striking parallels" between the series and an earlier installment of the metaseries, Mobile Suit Gundam Wing (1995): "Like Gundam Wing, Gundam 00's main story begins with hyper-powerful Gundam units appearing at various locales to execute slightly-less-than-Dynasty-Warriors-level mayhem in synchronized phases of a paramilitary operation."^[5] Later, Carl Kimlinger of Anime News Network suggested that just like Mobile Suit Gundam SEED adapted the original Mobile Suit Gundam (1979) for modern audiences, Gundam 00 is an attempt to do the same with Gundam Wing" - Taken from Wikipedia

Well, all I can say is that it seems to draw a little more influences than from just Wing...

Notice that there are similarities to this unit and the Wing Gundam...

Im expecting the new season to follow the traditions of Gundam Wing... 4 powerful Gundams show up and wreak havoc, then are later destroyed, only to be upgraded by the original makers.

Well (spoiler part) the Gundams of 00 have been almost all destroyed or critically damaged, and already we have a preview of then new leader Gundam... Im expecting BIG BIG things this comming October...
